Elder Renile Smith was born on May 18 to Deacon Richmond and Deaconess Estelle Smith, both of the Church of the Living God (COTLG), where he had his beginnings in ministry. He received the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the COTLG - Baltimore, Maryland under the late Bishop Ella Mae Jennings. Elder Smith had an undeniable anointing on him as an adolescent, but was not ready to accept his call in ministry. Then, in 1994 he acknowledged God’s will for him beneath Bishop Wayne White of Detroit, Michigan. Moreover, Elder Smith possesses a passion for God, his ministry, and the church, which allowed him to travel extensively throughout the country preaching the word of God. Throughout the years, he has been privileged to serve in many capacities at the Church of the Living God: the first Youth Pastor, where he was the Youth Pastor of the Year in 1999, National Evangelist, Youth Council President, Captain of Armor Bearers, under the late Bishop Manning, Security for the present Chief Overseer Bishop Faye Moore, and is currently the Senior Pastor of the Church of the Living God - Baltimore, Maryland since his appointment on June 12, 2010, and much more. Furthermore, Elder Smith has several prominent influences who have spoken into his life: Jay Drew Sheard of Greater Immanuel Institutional Church of God in Christ, Bishop Wayne White of Higher Praise Ministry, and Bishop Gerald Brown. More importantly, he is inspired from one of his favorite scriptures believing that God can and He will: “And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season will shall reap, if we faint not Galatians 6:9.” Elder Smith mission is to return to his home church (where he was born and raise) and continue to build the foundation that was built by previous Pastors’, as well as, impact others so they can recognize God’s assignment for them. Ultimately, he wants to be a fulltime Pastor in ministry which will fulfill God’s calling on his life.
